Lens of Perception

How to get people to wear glasses?
With lasik surgery at affordable rates, this is an interesting print ad in Belgium from Oogmerk Opticians illustrating the goodness of wearing glasses - it changes how people perceive you.

The title of this ad campaign is ‘Get The Respect You Deserve’, no doubt this is clever execution, but portraying more respect on one side still incur some degree of insult on the other.

Hi, Baby

A silly little book by David and Kelly Sopp.

An instructional guide of do’s and don’ts to handle a baby. The book promises “not idiotic” on the book cover, which is absolutely convincing after looking at the illustrations.

Hello, Eyes.

Let’s start with IKEA.

A quote from their newsletter:
“Creating flat-pack assembly instructions for IKEA product is kind of like making a Charlie Chaplin movie. Minimal use of words and it has to be understood by the many around the world.”

I couldn’t agree more.

As an Infographics artist myself, the challenge is to communicate in the ‘mute’ mode. The home design company did a great job in producing series of “Assembly Instructions for Dummies”(AID), all thanks to a breed of professionals known as Communicative Illustrators.

Despite the simplification of instructions, manuals are still boring to read, so here comes
Mike Sacks & Julian Sancton with a little dose of humour.
